What is the purpose of a blog?

What is the purpose of blogging, well in my opion its dumb and its rediculas. I dont ever blog because all it does is stir up some drama which is retarded, btu hey some people like that. Blogs can and cannot be safe, just because if you say somethign someone doesnt like then there is a highly chance of someone saying somethign to you or hurting you so yeah im out peace
